Before we went back to the ground, we visited the wine cellars, kitchens, classrooms and tombs.

THE SILHOUETTES OF ‘SMURF HOUSE’

Big Sunflowers smiled at us along our way to the Ilhara valley while I was still in deep thought of the amazing underground city.

An hour hiking in Ilhara valley, we finally reached the point for lunch. It’s a warm day. Everyone seemed listless after the lunch till we reached the monastery.

Over the centuries, Cappadocia was covered by a thick layer of volcanic tuff. It has eroded into fantastic shapes.

Wisdom gave Christian people the best shelter to hide themselves from the persecution. Monastery was another place to trace their shelters.

Later we visited Avanos, famed with its pottery. Ernie & I didn’t have much mood to shop here as we were looking forward to the last destination – Fairy Chimney (pasalbag).

Dawn was near only the car proceeded to this ‘smurf house’. Disappointed gazing at the silhouettes of Fairy Chimney in the dusk, Ernie & I swore to revisit it ourselves tomorrow.

The weather was colder here than in Istanbul at night when we went out for dinner. Dinning at Mercan restaurant was a good idea. Ernie chose this restaurant by her instinct. The mischievous waiters amused us a lot.

Although we were arranged to stay in a cave room in the end, the room was still out of our satisfaction. Our final decision was a move.

Monastery was another place to trace the shelters of the Christians in the old days.
