JACKY CHAN

Staying at a family-run pension is a great experience. Konya pension gave us lots of warmth & convenience. It’s easy to get access of the internet here or even buy bus ticket from the owner. After a nap, we went to a mosaic museum near Arasta Bazaar. Later, we walked to the centre to take a tram to Eminonu where the Egyptian (spice) market located. I love to experience different means of transport in a new country.

I asked the counter where my ticket is after I paid the money. He separated the token from the coins in the refund. ‘Ernie, this is our ‘ticket’, the token!!!’ I found it funny & couldn’t wait to try it out. Just slot in the machine, the gate open.

This was the tram token (jeton) which I mistook it as coin.

There were some kids in the tram kept repeated ‘JACKY CHAN, JACKY CHAN’ to us. In their daily commuter, we were the only 2 Asian girls.

We finally understood the reason. After the movie THE ACCIDENTAL SPY shot in Istanbul, the fame of JACKY CHAN has shortened the distance among the people in the world especially the Turks & Chinese. He is the proud of Chinese.

It’s over 5pm. The Egyptian (spice) market in Eminonu was closed. Many people stood at the entrance with disappointment.

I remembered it’s supposed to be 2 to 3 stops to our destination. But I didn’t see any board written ‘EMINONU’ after the 3rd stops.

‘Oh no, we might take the wrong tram’. We hurriedly asked the locals about ‘EMINONU’. They advised us to alight at the next stop & took the opposite tram.

When we reached Eminonu, a sea port full of crowd, the Egyptian market was closed. It’s over 5pm shown in the clock. We had no choice but to come back tomorrow.

MAGICAL CONVERSION TO MOSQUE

My flu was gone after taking medicine given by Ernie. A good sleep gave me a fresh start. We met a Japanese girl named Yuri during our Turkish breakfast at a restaurant nearby.
